Old Coins
Most of the hobby enthusiasts spend huge sums acquiring a unique coin-collection. The valuable question then is; that are old coins worth the money spent in buying them? Yes indeed! Old coins have a history bonded with them that intensifies their essence.
Each coin narrates the coinage of those days through the carvings on it. Coins could depict different hierarchy of the empire and colonies centuries ago or represent stories of their creation. Value of these coins is decided by the grade of each coin. The finer the grade of the coin the higher is the value of the coin. There are some interesting listings on websites providing helpful information on these.
Around 600BC India had developed some of the world’s earliest coins. The coins were irregularly shaped and made of silver. For indications, a series of punches, covering a variety of symbols, were made in the front. Likewise, other countries like China, America, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc. also had their share on collection of old coins.
In America, the value of ‘penny’, ’shillings’, ’pence’ and others were temporarily assigned new values with the concept of decimalization introduced. Old coins were gradually out of the economy system post-decimalization and replaced by new coins made of different metals. As the coins get older they make a proud part of your collection.
